Mia Margherita

It is said that in honor of Queen Margherita of the Royal Palace of Capodimonte the Margherita pizza was created by Chef Raffaele Esposito. Fresh mozzarella, San Marzano tomatoes and fresh basil each represent the colors of the Italian flag and became the queen’s favorite.

In the early 1900’s the Margherita pizza was the original to be served in America in New York’s first licensed pizzeria by way of our friends from Naples Italy. This pizza was cooked in a coal fired oven and today remains the method of choice for cooking authentic artisan pizza.

Each of these stories lend a unique part in the creation of our name, Mia Margherita.

Mia Margherita uses only domestic anthracite, the oldest, hardest and cleanest type of coal…virtually free of smoke and particulate emissions. Our dough is made in house, hand formed to order.

We are known for our pizzas, which start with a blend of high caliber mozzarella and provolone cheeses. Baked in a true coal fired oven, our pizzas are brushed with garlic olive oil and have a crisp, slightly charred crust and chewy center.

But we don’t just bake great artisan pizza! Our menu includes a variety of Southern Italian “Comfort Foods” including traditional soups and pasta dishes sure to become your next favorite meal.
